Shop Our Town™ Visits Nicholasville Retailers
Shop Our Town™ kicked off the 2019 video series in early January, visiting four retailers in Nicholasville. This pleasant small town neighboring Lexington just might surprise you with the country’s first commercial winery, the beautiful Taylor Made Horse Farm and the heartfelt hospitality of business owners who treat each customer like family.
Whether you’re remodeling your home and looking for flooring and new furniture, throwing a party and need an appetizer that will “wow” your friends, or trying to find the perfect pair of cowboy boots, Nicholasville’s retail scene has you covered.
While visiting Nicholasville, Shop Our Town™ had the opportunity to chat with Jessamine County Judge Executive David West to talk about the importance of retail.
“Retail supports the lifeblood of your community and it employs a great number of people,” Judge Executive West explained. “We obviously have payroll taxes and more retail, more businesses, means a more vibrant community because we’re able to offer more services.”
Dick Suffoleta, second generation owner of family retail store Suff’s Furniture and Oriental Rugs, broke down the role of retailers within Nicholasville’s economy.
“If you followed every dollar that is paid here and where it went, how many times it circulates through the community – whether it’s through buying gas, through the grocery store, going to a doctor or dentist – retailers are really helping to grow the central Kentucky area and that’s very important,” said Dick Suffoletta.
